6.00% 15-Month CD at Navy FCU Starting Feb 5th

NFCU is currently offering a 6.25% APY 7-year CD for deposits of at least $20K. Please refer to my Monday post for more info on this.
The only problem with NFCU, is its restrictive field of membership. Unlike Penfed, there doesn't seem to be any easy way to qualify for membership if you don't have any connection to the Navy. Here's the NFCU's field of membeship webpage. Readers have reported that the customer service reps can find more ways to qualify than what's listed. Here's the link to their contact page.
Branches are located around the US and the world.
Navy Federal is federally insured by the NCUA. It's the largest US credit union. It has over $27 billion in assets and over 2.8 million members.
Thanks goes to the reader who discovered this soon-to-be deal and mentioned it in the comments.

comment policy end of commentsPlease respond if you know of any way a person with no connection to the Navy could qualify for membership at Navy FCU. There usually is some kind of way around these qualifications. They want our money, don't they?

Not being critical here, but why not just call and the Navy FCU directly. Get the answer strait from the "Horses Mouth" and not second hand information which is sometimes not passed on accurately.
And also, sometimes a CSR will assist you on a one to one basis as to alternative membership qualifications.
